Sick Child

“The Sick Child,” by Gabriel Metsu is a painting I was drawn to on my visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam when I was twenty-three. I bought a postcard of it during my visit. In 1994 I made the artwork below it, inspired by the composition and atmosphere of “The Sick Child.”

To find new meaning in an earlier painting is insightful. The temptations and the healing show your struggle right now. The healing appears stronger with the arnica showing the way. Be compassionate with yourself, see your strengths. You got this.
